PGDip Counselling Psychology
MHsc (Hons) Psychology
Hi, my name is Vikki Baird I am a registered Counselling Psychologist, Mindfulness practitioner, and group facilitator working in the West and Central Auckland areas.
I work with both groups and individuals providing counselling, support, and mentoring for navigating the emotional waves and challenges of daily life. I believe it is within these daily struggles and challenges of life that our most valuable opportunities for building deeper meaning, fulfilment and resilience can emerge. Taking a strengths-based, humanistic approach to psychological health, I am committed to facilitating a safe and deeply accepting space for people to discover their own unique gifts, inner resources and wholeness, which they can then integrate consciously in to their lives, creating more choice, emotional freedom, and flexibility, as they move forward on their chosen path.
I am trained in a range of therapeutic approaches including Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person-Centred Counselling, and Narrative Therapy. I take a creative, integrated, collaborative approach to working with individuals and groups. Specialising in the areas of self-esteem, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, existential concerns, and career and life path choices.
My previous experience has involved working with youth and adults in a wide range of settings, including Youthline face to face counselling team, high school and community based youth programs, local community groups, and as the residential Counselling Psychologist in an adult mental health residential setting.
The first meeting will involve getting to know you, your history, life experiences, and your needs, in order to develop a unique therapeutic plan and specific goals aimed at supporting you towards living the life you truly want to live.
